CREATION OF TWO MOSAIC SKETCHES, CONTEST – SPILIMBERGO – PN (Italy)
The project represents foreign missions.
A lengthwise huge wall-city, symbol of cultures, anchored to the ground as a sign of stability and made of different parts that make a whole when seen together.
The wall as a border that separates and bridges differences, a middle-earth with no beginning nor an end, a strong and evocative image of the city, actual translation of the people’s will. “About to collapse”, a piece that describes the drama of the moment when everything is about to happen but still hasn’t, and the resulting need for an immediate intervention by law enforcements to bring back order and stability to the social structure.
The threat represented by the building bulk about to fall apart summarizes the loss of tension characterizing the other parts of the wall, stressed by little spots in the black sky, cutting holes onto the surface, making the not-visible almost visible.
The size of the panel (10,00 ml. long and 2,50 ml. high), the chromatic choice over two main colors: plain black with its chromatic variations, and ochre-yellow tattooed from the image of a city not literally recognizable, highlight the horizontality of the art on the wall, making it easier to read the “story” one strip at a time.
The total surface “skin” presents light reliefs and indentations, fundamental elements to get vibrant light-and-dark effects.
The rough sketch willingly presents the tiles, forming the mosaic, through an odd scale, aiming to pass on the planning idea in a clear way, postponing to the not-so-distant future, with the makers of the artwork, every possible judgement about perception, size, colore and texture surrounding the executive sides of this work.
